Small Business Solutions
Who says good old fashioned customer service is dead? WDSI has been assisting
small businesses understand, implement and benefit from networking for over 14-years.
We know networking inside and out, and chances are we also know your business,
having networked hundreds of local companies involved in all types of industries.
Although we are experts in technology - or main focus is on your business success.
Our creative and clever technical consultants will take the time to understand your
exact workflow, long-term goals, budget constraints and unique challenges before we
design your system. Working with our technical staff, a detailed Project Scope will
be created listing all tasks and expected costs, as nobody likes unpleasant surprises
[bills] at the end of a project - which unfortunately is all too common in the computer
integration industry. We will educate you and present you with options so that you
can make informed, intelligent business decisions.
Once you are comfortable with our recommendations, our project manager and
trained systems engineers will expertly install and configure your network,
minimizing disruption to your business thanks to thorough planning and preparation.
We have found that time invested up-front greatly reduces installation headaches, downtime
and costs. Our installation team will stay on the job until the work is done, and all
follow-up will be handled in a timely manner. On-going support is just an email or phone
call away.
But our responsibility to you does not stop there. Technology is constantly
changing and advancing. New security threats seem to appear with alarming frequency.
Businesses grow, expand, relocate, and face challenges. Whatever the situation or
economic climate, you will be able to count on WDSI to be there, ready and willing
to provide advice and technical guidance.
We hear time and time again statements
from clients to the effect of "You guys
care more about my network then we do".
What can we do say but, "Yes, we do, thank
you."
Small Business Networking
Businesses must communicate and share information effectively to be competitive. Connecting
individual PCs using a local area network (LAN) is the essential first step. A LAN
is made up of three key components: (a) network file server; (b) network operating
system; and (c) network workstations. In addition, today's small business network
typically includes a tape backup system, an Ethernet switch, network printer(s), a
firewall/router, interoffice and Internet Email, remote access, antivirus software -
and possibly solutions to cut down on spam, protect against spyware and more.

Ten Reasons Why You Need a Small Business
Server from WDSI
-
You can create order from chaos. By centralizing data on a server,
you can better manage business-critical information. Sharing files and
other data across PCs becomes much easier, and the likelihood of having
multiple versions of the same document or spreadsheet is greatly reduced.
With a network server and a directory structure designed by WDSI, you
will be able to find documents faster and easier then ever. Even from
home or on the road.
-
You can protect your data by making backups easier. Small Business Server
(SBS) 2003 includes a powerful backup program that can protect your data against
loss from corruption, physical disaster or user deletion. Your data can be
backed-up every night automatically and without user intervention, other then
the changing of the tape. Off-site storage protects your business in the
event of a catastrophe; your system can be rebuilt - your data cannot.
-
You can work smarter. Not only is data sharing easier with a server-based network,
but Small Business Server 2003 is a must if you want to utilize many business
applications, such as accounting solutions or industry-specific software packages.
Most business packages require or highly recommend for stability a dedicated network server.
-
You can accommodate a mobile work force. Servers enable authorized out-of-office
workers to have remote access to your network, facilitating data sharing among
those who travel, telecommute or work in off-site locations. Through Remote Web
Workplace, users of SBS 2003 can get access to server data via the Internet.
Remote workers can also connect to the company email system via Outlook Web
Access, so they are always in touch.
-
You can share high-speed DSL or CATV. Splitting a high-speed DSL or Cable connection
between network workstations provides all systems with fast and efficient Internet
access. But it also facilitates a host of other capabilities, such as in-house email
using SBS's Exchange Server or remote access to network programs and email.
-
You can set up new PC's, add users and deploy new applications more quickly and
easily. Expect to grow? Plan on upgrading your hardware? By managing your data
from a central location, you can better coordinate the addition of new PCs,
software licenses and software applications. A standard drive-image can be
created of your specific environment, which allows you to quickly bring new
workstations on-line, all with the same look-and-feel.
-
You can reduce your PC maintenance costs. If you have a number of non-networked
PC's, or a peer network, chances are that each system has a different personality
with their own set of unique problems and work-round's. Installing a network
server is the first step in implementing a structured and supportable IT platform.
-
A server can decrease downtime and aid in recovery from a disaster. A server as
configured by WDSI includes fault-tolerant features such as RAID Level 1 Drive
Arrays (your data is saved to two physical drives, so in the event of a hardware
failure of one drive, the system remains operational). With standalone PC's or
a peer server, if the hard drive fails, the system must be reloaded and restored
from tape - assuming you have one and it is current, which is not always the case
with standalone PC's. WDSI builds redundancy into every network we install.
-
You can protect your systems from attacks and viruses. Maintaining anti-virus
and anti-spyware packages on individual PC's can be a nightmare. A server
allows you to centralize and control these critical processes better manage
firewalls and monitor threats to your data, and more easily deploy virus and
spyware protection.
-
You can look more professional to your business partners, clients and prospects.
SBS 2003 enables you to consolidate your e-mail accounts (AOL, Yahoo!, Hotmail,
etc.) into a single, company-hosted e-mail account, enhancing your image to
customers and partners. You can create email users and aliases, with email
being sent to your own domain name (such as: myname@mybigcompany.com).
