Migration & Conversion Document Management & Word Processing Systems
WDSI has been installing, supporting and converting document
management software since 1980, including systems from Interwoven,
DocsOpen, Worldox, SoftSolutions, GroupWise, PowerWay ISO
9000, Wang and IBM. Document management software is a universal
component of the law firm automation systems implemented by
WDSI, and almost all involve some type of conversion. Our
Implementation Team is highly skilled and experienced in not
only the conversion itself, but the planning and coordination
of such migrations, which many times occur over a period of
time and in conjunction with a Train/Deploy phase of a project
implementation.
WDSI's provides support to firms that utilize Microsoft Word
or WordPerfect. That being said, the majority of our clients
have already made the transition from WordPerfect to Word,
many converting directly from WordPerfect 5.1. As such, migrations
from one version of Word to another are accomplished with
relative ease.
For new clients that need to move from a Corel WP environment
into MS Word, WDSI offers CrossWords conversion
software. This utility is capable of converting documents
either "on the fly" or in a batch format. CrossWords
provides a high quality conversion from WordPerfect, versions
5.X through 10.X, to Microsoft Word, versions 97 through 2002
(XP). CrossWords is fully integrated with all the popular
Document Management Systems: Interwoven, Worldox, DocsOpen and
Hummingbird PowerDocs.
For clients looking to reduce the time required to manually
reformat documents, WDSI recommends Stylizer.
Stylizer assists users in quickly reformatting Word documents
by intelligently applying Styles that reflect firm standard
template designs. This includes e-mail attachments, documents
that have been scanned, or those that were converted from
WordPerfect to Word with the Crosswords conversion utility.
Stylizer can also take any poorly formatted Word document,
which typically does not use paragraph Styles properly, and
completely reformat and apply your organization's standard
styles in minutes.
Lastly, for firms that have users that require access to
"reveal codes", WDSI offers CrossEyes.
CrossEyes is a general purpose add-in for all recent versions
of Microsoft Word, (97, 2000 and XP), that helps a typist
of any skill level understand and use Word more efficiently.
It is the only product that lets a typist see a complete visual
map of everything in a Word document, and help typists transition
from WordPerfect's "reveal codes" feature.
E-Mail & Groupware Systems
WDSI has migrated numerous clients from groupware packages
such as Novell GroupWise and Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange
Server with Outlook. These tools provide conversion selection
on a user-by-user basis to accommodate phased migration/deployments,
or can be performed in a batch format. These tools, when configured
and used properly, provide for accurate and comprehensive
migration for the Groupware data.
To accommodate complex "phased implementations",
WDSI utilizes a unique virtual e-mail "routing table"
that splits e-mail delivery to users on the appropriate groupware
system. We dynamically update the virtual routing table as
users complete training and their individual groupware data
is migrated from GroupWise to Exchange so that they continue
to receive Internet e-mail during the transition. Our virtual
e-mail routing table also allows users to communicate via
e-mail with one another within the firm even though they are
using different systems over the duration of the phased training
and deployment migration.
